Business description

Last Updated on

Launched in 2014, this WordPress product business focused on invoicing. WordPress is the most popular Content Management System (CMS) in the world. It is being utilized by 35% of all websites. When stacked up against other CMS’ WordPress has a 60% market share. WordPress has been adding 1-4% per year to its market share since 2011.

The product is downloaded and installed on WordPress sites, allowing the user to invoice clients/customers, and receive payments instantly via many online global payment gateways. There are other features including branded upsells which allows for automated billing and payments and a help desk install which allows for site owners to manage support tickets for their site.

The workload is part time. Currently, the owner puts in 20 hours a week doing 1-2 hours of admin work, 5 hours of marketing, and 5-10 hours of support and development. The owner desires to sell the business because it is no longer exciting for him to operate. Being primarily a developer he feels inadequate working administrative tasks and marketing.

The potential road map for future growth looks very bright. There are 19,609 emails that are underutilized. Implementing Stripe Connect would allow the business to receive a percentage of .5-1% on all transactions through Stripe. Another great opportunity is to build the product out for use on other types of websites outside of WordPress. Finally, partnering with a hosting company to bundle or one-click install the paid version could drive massive adoption.

If you are looking for a software opportunity with broad appeal and room for growth this product has all the makings to be a great fit.
